Former Head of Civil Service Francis Muthaura yesterday appeared before Anglo Leasing trial court to set records straight on how the government awarded Anglo Leasing contracts 15 years ago.
Muthaura, while being led in his evidence-in-chief by Senior State Counsel Evah Kanyuira told the court that the government suspended the 18 Anglo Leasing police security projects after discovering they were all ghost projects and later ordered for an audit and investigations on the same.
“I confirm to this court that during that period, issues were raised that the police security projects were not being handled properly and the government ordered an audit,” he said.
Muthaura was testifying in a case where former Finance minister late David Mwiraria, three former PSs Joseph Magari, Dave Mwangi and David Onyonka and businessmen Deepak Kamani, Rashmi Kamani and Chemanlal Kamani have been charged with a conspiracy to defraud the government Euros 59,688, 250 through a suppliers financing agreement for computerisation of security, law and order system.
