Pastor Wins Kabale Varsity Guild to Become First Female President

Christine Barigye Tina, a second year student of Bachelors of Social Work and Social Administration was Saturday elected the new guild president of Kabale University, becoming the first female guild president of the 16 year old university.

Barigye was declared winner at 7pm by the Kabale University Electoral Commission Chairperson Junior Bampa.

Ms Barigye is a Pastor at Soul Winner Church in Kabale. She managed to shake off tight competition from two contenders, polling 631 votes, against Rogers Kabakyenga’s 494 votes and Joshua Mugisha’s 347.

In her speech, Barigye promised to among others become the bridge between the students and the administration, and also work with everyone including her opposition for the good of the institution.

Ms Barigye takes over from John Bosco Muhwezi.
